The farmhouse as viewed from the gardens

Built  in 1863 Prebendal Farm is a working arable farm situated in the village of Bishopstone, only one mile from Europe's oldest road - the Ridgeway. Interestingly the now tarmac main road through the village is itself on  the line of another less well known prehistoric trackway - The Icknield Way.

Bishopstone is a beautiful chalk downland  village with a multitude of thatched cottages clustered around an old mill pond. Largely unscathed by modern development it remains an archetypal  Wiltshire village.

The Norman church is exquisite and contains  a magnificent, recently restored organ. There are two excellent pubs (The  Royal Oak and The True Heart). The Royal Oak offers an extensive organic menu taking its meat from Eastbrook Farm - an organic producer based in  the village.

Bishopstone itself has many secret pathways to explore.

Dining Room/Sitting Room

Retaining much of its original Victorian elegance this large, airy, south facing room offers guests a tranquil respite in the evenings and an bright start for breakfast. The view northwest over the gardens offers good views of Bishopstone village.

Breakfast is to your requirements, but there is always fresh fruit, yoghurt, porridge, cereal and a cooked breakfast with organic sausages and bacon from local Eastbrook Farm. There are also hot vegetarian options, as well as breads, toasts, croissants, muffins and bagels, smoked salmon and cream cheese.

The Gardens

Extensive and secluded, the gardens  sweep away from the farmhouse, sliding down in a succession of ancient terraces to the medieval, sluice controlled fish pond.

The gardens are completely private, enclosed within their own chalk and brick walls and offer a variety of settings and moods. They are a place to stroll after a hearty breakfast, or to sit and  relax in the shade of one of the many trees after a day's exploration.

Please note that at this time we are unable to accept Credit Cards.
